How you may ask?
Inspired by @hunger4words, we're learning how to teach Eddie AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) through using voice recording buttons and dog psychology; because dogs have voices that need to be heard. Follow our journey as we all learn something new.

What's Next?
Though it differs from every animal, it took Eddie about one month to use his "outside" button for the first time. Here are some of our tips and tricks for starting out on your AAC journey:
1. Record your voice on the recordable buttons with basic words your animal already knows and understands (ex. outside, food, walk, etc.).
2. Place the buttons in an area you and your animal spend time the most (ex. the living room, kitchen, etc.).
3. Start pressing! As the human, you should try to press the button whenever it will be necessary for the animal to do so. We started with the word "outside" on our first button, so whenever Eddie needed to go outside, we brought Eddie over to the area where the button was, pressed the button before we opened the door, and then went outside.
4. Continue to demonstrate and practice showing your animal how they can press the button with their paw.
5. Once your animal begins to understand the concept and presses the first button a couple of times, add your next word button with another basic word.
6. Continue this process! Try experimenting with different words, spaces, or other things you can think of to connect with your animal. We hope this helps you begin your journey of AAC and if you have questions, please email us at [email protected].
